Food For thought...an edible inquiry

Teaching at the whiteboard face 'it's a kinda magic' Term 2- W eek 6 & 7 We returned to school for two teachers only days in week 6 for preparation and to engage with the protocols for returning to work at Level 2. I felt anxious about being back at school, but within hours of being at school it felt good, to be back in our spaces and amongst colleagues. Our Senior Leadership team had made good preparations for the return to work, and and due to the the initiative of a colleague there was a plan to make a fun video. The purpose; to welcome back our students. It was a neat thing to do - I loved being involved and I thing the finished item is funny and cool .....Keep on moving...Get on up when your down Amongst my group of friends it was interesting to see us work through different anxieties as we returned and started to engage with our classes again. I was surprised that my anxieties bubbled over ...almost immediately and I spoke openly about this....

Lessons learned  -  look before you leap Term 2- W eek 5 I have reviewed a number of other teaching blogs recording the experience of teaching remotely. I have accessed these through facebook - I follow a couple of Educational pages and its timely now to talk through the lessons learned while teaching by distance  remotely and off a the learning platform Google classroom. People are recording some similar ideas about the experience, all reporting similar joys and failures. I have now however started to reflect on the real shifts in my understanding of what it really means to deliver lesson online.   Lonely days ...locked in an office Term 2- W eek 4 This week I find that I am resenting going to my office, fortunately - I am able to escape and shoot away down to Amberley village to go grab a takeaway coffee and a muffin, during my tea break. Since changing to Level 3 there is some more cafes open - Fantastic! I have tried to stick ridgley to routines,   but this week i chuck it in! I work with more flexibility. I enjoy  being able to work more with my own rhythms. I now have the finalised planner.  Its great knowing that I have a whole day- Monday is a planning day, to get all the work set up for the students. I consider this time to be my 'work run' time. Over the weekend I am thinking of ideas, refining them and then on Monday I crack on to create the learning tasks for the week - assigning some time each morning for the classes. I am constantly thinking ahead and adapting tasks to make them user friendly. When i ask students ...

One way traffic Teaching at the computer face  Term 2- w eek 3 I am struggling this week with the lack of connection to students, I feel unmotivated, as i recognise that i am sitting in an office connected to my akonga by a screen. I keep making resources that i think might engage the students.    We have a long weekend and then a teacher only day I attend the online tutorials and discoverer a couple of new tips. I don't feel like i gain any huge advantage - but good to know that I am on top of the how to use most of the tools for online learning. This week i am still finding that l spend ages working on and  perfecting my new resources, getting all the right pictures!   I also learn how to control the  people in the google meets and plan a fixed timetable for week 4 onwards.
