Teaching from a room Lets get smart  Term 2- w eek 2 It occurs to me part way through the week - I really must get smart about how to do this! I adjust my timetable and start to think about scheduling when i do tasks and mapping out the week so that I have work sprints, meetings and scheduled times for marking. I put together a detailed timetable.  I do some thinking about 'becoming Agile & Lean - for covid 19" What I am looking at is the idea about being sure that I'm working efficiently. Especially since one of my main difficulties,is workload. I realise that, it's because I am creating so many new resources, and I am  so excited! I develop my own planner for covering the key tasks in a week, using this example by Katrian Ward I found this while looking at posts in a a facebook group- Mindshift. My own version is a much more simplified and written on on a scrap of paper! Basically mapping my week into 4 key stages; Creating learnin...

Teaching -at the computer face  Covid 19 Level 4  Lockdown New Zealand - April 2020 Term 2  -  Week 1-  Wed 15th - 17th April I was exciting to start the term, the trial run at the end of term one made me confidence I have done some planning, worked a a timetable and having test run the google classroom platform last term, it all seems doable. Albeit some engagement issues and a  few students emailed to say they were not in the classroom and that they couldn't access DOCs - I work on resolving these issues. By the end of, what is a short week short week, the shine of the new job as a remote learning teacher had dulled off. A few discoveries;  Family members want to talk to you - while you are teaching 😒  I get cold sitting at my desk - shut in an office for the day 😢😢 Some technology fails ...like I forgot how to set up google meets and missed first scheduled...

Necessity is the mother of Invention Musings about my experiences while teaching online during the COVID 19  Pandemic  March 2020 Term 1 Week 8/9 Corona virus sweeps through China, Italy, Spain.  WHO Declares a pandemic. Its a nasty bug, and the death tolls rise! Thankfully Prime minister Ardern acts, decisively, closing NZ boarders.  Me and my teaching colleagues  are so relived as we feel unsafe at work. I recall our group, the 'elective alley' gals, huddling around our phones during our lunch break listening to the announcement  that schools will close from the 25th March.  We weep with relief. The country  moves swiftly through  Level 2-3-4.  School closes. All but essential  businesses close - its eerie.  From Zero to One  Hundred... Term 1 Week 9 I start with my online learning program. Fortunately  I had set up Google classrooms and the majority of students had joined pri...
